Im not sure if its just me or not, but is it normal for these cars to have weak acceleration when the car is cruising at around 70-80ish?

I was driving on a slight incline today and wanted to take off to overtake driving 75ish. I planted the accelerator and it was as if the gear didnt downshift to shoot but stayed in 4th or 5th and slowly crept up. I know this is probably why active select is good. I was hoping for a more responsive takeoff and havnt really tested it before.

Any thoughts as to whether thats normal for SV6's VZ Calais etc?

cheers!

Really... oh oh... hope I dont have a problem with my car.
Shortly after the post I looked up a similar car on utube and found this: Chevrolet Lumina (Holden Calais) (VZ) 80-120 (2) - YouTube

My car I think is similar to that being stock n all.

Im really interested to understand why your car would shoot from maybe 4th gear to 2nd when you do that though.
Im gonna re-test mine again next time and then again with Active select.

I think my next car has to be a V8 in order to get better acceleration at high speeds.

they jump from 4th to 2nd because thats what an auto does, if you have active select on (say your crusieing in 4th gear) and boot it nothing will happen you would have to click it down to 2nd or 3rd to get acceleration

In my experience they have weak acceleration at all speeds. Perfectly normal.

in that video it downshifted to 2nd, so i cant see whats wrong with it, except the diff gears are a bit tall, get some 3.46 in your car and it should come out good as such in my video
