Hey all have a bit of an electrical issue with me 02 LS1 calais

I replaced rear main and inlet manifold gaskets and during that time battery was disconnected.

Earlier this week once everything was ready to fire up, I connected the battery and noticed the cluster did not work (gauges, no lights, gear selector display etc it’s a 3 window cluster and the 2 sides don’t display any data) but ODO did display and when turning on headlights the cluster lights up. The mode button and hazard button did not work so was unable to enter diagnostics mode.

Once car fired up (cranked and started fine) I checked battery voltage and it never rose beyond 12.4V. Long story short I replaced alternator thinking it wasn’t charging the battery but still no charge, battery kept draining.

It’s weird the cluster does not work and when checking fuses under dash the middle column are all dead yet others are working. Engine bay fuses only ENGINE CONT BCM and FUEL PUMP are dead but the car runs and idles normally?? Everything else tested working. I replaced all dead fuses with new ones but test light still not showing power yet car starts runs and idles but no battery charging.

I have checked all grounds and I even ripped out the battery loom and checked all wires and they are perfect.

Any advice is appreciated cheers

I replaced all fuses under the dash that the test light failed them on… when I replaced and tested again nothing lit up

But yes cluster has been dead since I reconnected the battery after at least 4 months. What other checks can I do for the cluster? Thanks

How do you test those? The big ones in the engine bay?
