hey so i have just been doing some checks on all the fluids and oils in my vp v6, but am not 100% sure the correct way to check engine and transmission oil. i went for a small drive to get the heat up to normal operating temperature, then with the car running at idle, i checked the engine oil...

nah mate, v8's and v6's all the same tps sensor :thumbsup:

as db_notso said, it is most likely the tps sensor. the way your talking about whats happening with your car, i would be 99% sure its tps. swap it over with your old one and it should fix it buddy :thumbsup:

if its just your crank pulley (also known as harmonic balancer) then you should be able to tell just by looking at the rubber that the pulley is made of. if it is split then that could definately be your problem, and maybe the oil seal tucked in behind it has broken or something..... worse yet...

i'd recommend taking it to an exhaust specialist and get them to have a look, if theres a hole or a blockage in your muffler/exhaust pipe then that could definately explain it mate.... just what i'd do....

true true, must me memcals then, not ecu's. so have you tried using a memcal for a manual transmission mate? they're different cos autos have different settings particularly for idle which has alot to do with autos having a torque converter and manuals not....

hey mate, the computers you tried were they all from auto's by any chance? cos i believe you shouldnt have an ecu made for an auto in a manual car (you may need an ecu designed for a manual transmission), or maybe its the memcal im thinking of...... maybe someone can confirm whether its ecu or...

what do you mean by snapped your exhaust mate? and also when it starts 'spluttering' does it stall the car at all? and also in the first minute before it starts spluttering does the car seem to have full power or does it feel underpower?

have you done any recent work on your car? particularly around the intake/throttle body? or has it just come up out of nowhere mate?

my bad, just double-checked the ebay listing i got the price from and it was only for the vn 1-wire, not the vp 2-wire :hit:

if you do go ahead with the service, add some stuff called 'lucas transmission fix'. its done alot of good for my auto, now it doesnt slip at all. only costs like 20 bucks from repco :thumbsup:

just what comes to mind..... have you installed the brake switch and/or clutch switch properly. maybe its stuck thinking you have the brake/clutch in because its not installed correct or something.... just my thought mate, good luck :thumbsup:

try spraying some wd-40 onto the joint on the steering shaft (its kinda behind/below the brake fluid resorvoir if i remember properly). i had a similar noise with my vp and spraying this area helped alot (didnt completely get rid of it but its a hell of alot better). just my suggestion anyways...

any chance do you have an oil leak coming from around the back of your transmission? if so you may need to change your speed sensor o-ring which will keep a bit of extra pressure in your tranny and may help with the torque convertor lockup. retails for something like 20 bucks from holden......

maybe an exhaust blockage? maybe coil packs or dfi module? just my thoughts.... good luck mate

do an error check bud. if engine light is on it should have stored an error code in your ecu, that should narrow the problem down a bit :thumbsup:

perhaps even a blockage in your exhaust somewhere can cause missing/hesitation/stalling too......

if you've done your leads and plugs, the next most probable things to cause a miss are your coil packs or the ignition module. you can get them in a pack altogether from ebay for a couple hundred bucks

get a new coolant temperature sensor (about 15-20 bucks from holden). very very easy to install, do it while your doing your coolant flush cos otherwise you may lose a little bit of coolant (but even if youve already done your coolant flush still do it, you will only lose a very little bit of...

p.s. if that doesnt work and you run out of ideas and are thinking about getting a new transmission, first go to super cheap auto and grab some stuff called lucas transmisison fix. alot of people dont like additives, but about a year or so ago i had similar problems with my auto and it wouldnt...

hey mate, even a bit overfilled tranny oil in these transmissions can cause problems, better to be a touch under the full mark then over it. how over is it? if its only a little bit just undo your speed sensor on the side of the back of the transmission to drain a little bit out :thumbsup:

yeah half-way aint too bad. maybe try air bleeding your system with the screw on top of thermostat housing? may or may not help. good luck bud

hey mate, any chance does the coolant resorvoir level sit right on half-way between maximum and minimum mark? if so this is completely normal on the buick engines. if you fill it up to the maximum mark it will keep spitting coolant out until its half-way between. but if it goes below the minimum...

Cos even at next to no throttle in the wet my current tyres just spin, particularly bad with all the hill starts I have to do in my area, and I live off a main road which is a 80 zone and at peak hour I only have very small gaps in the traffic to get on to the road. Im kinda sick of everyone...

hey mate ive had all of what you have minus msd ignition and didnt notice any gain in performance, only better throttle response but no difference at full throttle. I also found that 95 octane fuel seemed to go better than 98. Just my opinions bud, good luck :thumbsup:
