If you don't find what you want, you can always pick up one of these.
A fantastic first car that will give you and others lots of thrills.
Also a terrific ‘Chick Magnet’.

And has room for activities.

Get something 'understated', that flies 'under the radar'...

You're a P plater in Melbourne, you will be targeted by VicPol...

There is lots of great advice already covered in this thread...

If you're more interested in the sportier driving experience and looks, I'd go for the SV6...

However, if you're more interested in comfort, features and bling, I'd go for the Calais, though 2016 SV6 Black Editions and 2017 SV6's come with HUD and some other extras, if you can afford it...

I'd advise against making your Calais look more sportier with new bumpers, etc, as it hurts resale value and the luxurious aspect of the Calais...

Take both for a test drive and see which one you prefer... And if you need some advice on how to inspect a used car, check this video out:

Completely with you. Couldn't tell you how many cars I've seen on the roads without their lights on at 5:30am. The ever-increasing number of cars with daytime running lights are a GODSEND. Still pisses me off whenever I see some knob head driving around without his lights on though
It always amazes me the number of cars I see driving at night without headlights on, and I know a lot of them have auto lights. Are they ignorant, or do they turn them off on purpose!!?!

@BradLaird_4 I forgot to mention, what's your budget? Can you comfortably afford to buy and maintain a VF Commodore?

I reckon they've turned them off as part of being a sovereign citizen or some such twaddle.
Ain't gunna be told what to do by "the man"!
