I think the correct word is "common", not "normal".

Sometimes just disconnecting the battery or pulling out the fuse for the head unit, then replacing, will reset the unit and fix the problem.

Take it to a place that does guard rolling. They'll fix the damage (or fix it 90%), plus they'll roll them to prevent it happeniing again.

No, SwirlX has much less cut than UC. If you're going over the same spots you already did with UC, it could be that UC did most of the work and SwirlX is providing that last little bit extra cut and/or it's covering up some fine scratches. You're doing the right thing by taking your time...
